How To Start Working On Your Goal

“A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step”- Lao-Tzu

My first step should’ve been: Breathe.

When I first decided to begin this journey, I felt overwhelmed because I read so much information but was still baffled on where I should start.

Here are 3 steps that I’ve done and wish I did more of in the beginning.

  1. Come up with a plan before you release ANYTHING

These days it’s so easy to put something into the world due to the ease of creating social media accounts, websites, blogs, etc. It’s easy to create those outlets without having everything thought out. I made this mistake and threw whatever I could on social media without having a clear plan.

I began planning AFTER I’d put my ideas on the internet. Granted, I had a big picture idea of what I wanted to be communicated to my audience but not the details, which wasn’t the wisest.

So it’s time for you to do some homework. There’s a ton of information out there and it’s easy to become a bit overwhelmed but know that much of the information is saying the same thing, especially when it comes to beginning a business/venture.

My recommendation: come up with a plan of what you want to happen!

  1. Marketing/Advertising

Be smart about this one, guys. It’s easy to just “do stuff”. Please Please take the time to Read/research about what type of advertising would work best for your audience, your product, service, etc. Also, research what works best for you. Think about what you’d be comfortable doing, what you can afford, etc.

I made the mistaking of just trying to put stuff out there and nothing came from those attempts, but when I referred back to my plan and read/researched about the advertising that worked for my audience and service, I saw the fruit of my labor.

Take the time to research, it’s important. I’m going to remind you, don’t get overwhelmed with the information that you find.  Be sure to take a break/step away for a few minutes. A stressed you won’t be as productive as you’d like, so keep calm.

  1. Hit the ground running

Once you’ve got your plan, it’s time for you to start working and you’ve got to work with vigor & confidence. Work as though you’re plan will not fail. Work as though you’re carrying the best idea in the world. Work as though the world will reap the benefits of your idea.

One of your most important tools will be your schedule. Make sure you develop a schedule that works for your life, one that fits into your day to day but makes room for your work.

Remember: this is a no excuses type of life. If you’re tired from the day and feel you’re entitled to “take the day off” from your dream, remember that what you want to happen won’t happen if you don’t put in the necessary work.

I realize I just gave some broad suggestions, but I really think this helps sum up my start and how I made it through that beginning stage.

I hope this helps!
